  5. One of the famous doctors was Hippocrates. Hippocrates was a very famous man because he found out how diseases were really formed (and managed to convince the ridiculous government the truth who thought that god was giving people colds and sicknesses as punishments, but Hippocrates got into quite some trouble while his convincing) and how our human body works which gave a huge boost to the boost to the world. He wrote the book while he was in prison (in which he had been landed in for saying that the diseases that people were getting were natural) called the oath promise revealing names of all body parts and how they work. When he was set free he went away and performed amazing defences against bad symptoms that were common diseases in Greek times. He also made a book called the corpus that explains how doctors should always take the best care of their patients wherever they are or whatever they are doing and even today we have to if you want to be a doctor you have to recite them out loud and have special training and experience before you do it, Thanks to Hippocrates!

  6. Hippocrates

Hippocrates was one of the most famous ancient Greek doctors. Hippocrates was born in 460 bc and died in 370 bc. Hippocrates was a famous man because he changed ancient Greek medicine. The ancient Greeks thought that if you had a cold there was the god of wind cursing you, but Hippocrates changed that by telling people that they had tummy ache. Hippocrates went to prison because the ancient Greek Goverment and the people thought it was wrong. He wrote a special book in prison called the Hippocratic oath. The oath was to even if your out of work and someone needed your help you would have to help them and all doctors today use the Hippocratic oath today. In the ancient Greek times if you had something that could cure people you could just put a poster up and if you were blacksmith and you had a sword you could chop off someones finger but Hippocrates said no to this. If you were just a blacksmith you had to have proper training. He was the first ever doctor too experiment in peoples body.

  8. Hippocrates was a doctor and a teacher of medicine, he was born at about 460BC on the Greek island of Kos. He learned about medicine from his father who was also a doctor.

He was one of the first doctors to not believe that illnesses were given by the Greek Gods as a curse and that it was not a punishment but was caused by people’s diet and natural things. His medicine was more sensible compared to the doctors before him, and he believed that thoughts and feelings came from the brain and not from the heart.

Hippocrates said that people become ill because one of your four humours were unbalanced. The four humours are, Blood, Black Bile, Yellow Bile and Phlegm. For example, if your yellow bile is unbalanced you can become jaundiced (yellow fever).

Hippocrates started a medical school in Greece and developed an oath of Medical Ethics (rules of conducts for doctors) to follow. This oath is still used today and is known as the Hippocratic Oath.

  9. Hippocrates was the very first phycisian to know that illnesses wre made naturally. He explained the body and changed that ilnes were not given by gods as a punishmment. He was sentenced to jail for 20 years and he wrote a book in jail called 'the complicted body.' To make sure that future doctors try their hardest to cure their patients he made a hippocratic oath that is still used by doctors in these days. He also noted down any new disease so he can cure future patients. There a 4 humors which are Blood, yellow bile, black bile and phlegm. If any of these four humors isn't balanced then a particular disease will effect you. Hippocrates also wrote a book called the corpus.

  10. Hippocrates was a famous doctor who was born in 460 BC.
He was someone who changed the opinions of doctors about medicine and how people were treated.
Some of the patients thought that the reason why they were getting hurt was because some of the gods hated them or they were cursed by the devil or something but Hippocrates changed their opinion in that and told them that maybe they just had rotten luck and God does not cause the accidents and they were not cursed.
Hippocrates made something called the Hippocratic oath, it was an oath that even if you were off your shift or your day off and some random dude in the street was run over or had a heart attach or anything and you would swear to help them immediately even if it's a day off. Doctors still use they Hippocratic oath today.

Doctors in Ancient Greece believed there were four humours. There was black bile, yellow bile, blood and phlegm and if you had a problem with nay of those things they would have to treat you. The way they dealt with colds was to keep the patient warm and the way they dealt with fevers was to keep the patient cold and dry.

  11. Hippocrates of Kos was a Greek physician of the Age of Pericles, and is considered one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine. He tried to convince the government and the people of Greece that illnesses and diseases don't come from the gods as punishments they actually come from natural causes. When he was trying to convince the people and government he was sent to prison for about 20 years. Hippocrates wrote a Hippocratic oath which says to always help people without needing to charge money. Doctors now still make to Hippocratic oath. He is thought to be born in Cos in 460 BC. He wrote two books one called The Hippocratic corpus. He wrote his books while he was in prison. There are 4 humours which are Blood, Black Bile, Yellow bile and Phlegm. If these humours aren't balanced they will affect you with a disease. You get Phlegm when you are feeling unwell and coughing a lot. To stop phlegm they would make you warm and sticky. You get Black Bile when you cant go to the loo so they would give you something which makes you go to the loo a lot. You get Yellow Bile when you keep vomiting and there's nothing left to vomit.

  12. Hippocrates of Kos totally revolutionised doctoring in Ancient Greece. Before he changed everything people could just put signs outside their house saying "I'v got herbs that will cure your cold". But Hippocrates said he that people got a cold because if was winter and they weren't wrapped up warm. For that he got sent to prison for 20 years which is where he wrote two of his books e.g. The complicated body. He also wrote the Hippocratic oath which said that if someone fell down you had to help them and if someone asks you on a airplane if you are a doctor you must say yes.

  15. Ancient Greek Medications

The person who revolutionised medicine was called Hippocrates. He was a Greek physician who became known as the ‘father of medicine’. His efforts to base medicine on science rather than magic did lead to him going to jail for 20 years but also proved to be true a few years later. During his time in jail, he wrote books like the ‘Complicated Body’, to share his medical beliefs with other people. His most important book was the Hippocratic Oath which promised people that had distrust in doctors that, even if it’s their holidays, doctors will always be there for injured citizens. He also declared that doctors should have proper training.

If you had a cold in Ancient Greece Hippocrates would have treated you by giving you a substance that made you go to the toilet a lot (an inbalance of black bile).
