Literacy

Write a balanced argument: ‘should school holidays be made longer?’

Remember to include an introduction, an argument for and against with reasons and evidence, connectives and a conclusion.

 Topic

Next week we will be building and designing our own Viking ships. Please research the different types of Viking ships and designs in preparation for our D.T lesson. Make some sketches and label what types of materials you will need to collect over the week.

Science-on the blog

Please post advice for the school on the blog explaining how rusting occurs, how it can be can be prevented and why it is irreversible.

Draw a table on a piece of paper with the subheadings “For” on one side and “Against” on the other. Think about this question - “Can you feel guilty for something you haven’t done?” Think of reasons for agreeing with this and for disagreeing. Write your ideas on the table to create a balanced argument.

Next week we will be investigating creating new materials. One material that has caused great excitement recently in the field of astronomy is Aerogel. What is it and how is it used?

Imagine you are the parent of a child at Crunchem Hall School. Write a letter of complaint to the school detailing your opinion of Miss Trunchbull and the way she treats the children. Remember to describe how she walks, talks, looks and sounds. Can you use similes and metaphors in your writing?

Science

How can you tell if a material has burned? What do you expect to see if a material has burned? Imagine burned paper, wood and plastic and describe what you might see if they had burned.
