The Battle of Hastings was fought on 14 October 1066 between the Norman-French Duke and the Anglo-Saxon King.One of the main reasons it is famous is because Kind Harold-the Anglo-Saxon king- got shot by an arrow in the eye by the enemy.

They pretended to walk down the hill seeming like they were giving up and then when the Anglo Saxons let their guard down the Norma's began to strike, killing Harold with an arrow through the eye and capturing or killing the rest of the Anglo Saxons. William had won the battle and became the king, known as "William the conquered".
