  1. 1066 is a very famous date in English history. This is because 1066 is when the Battle of Hastings started. The Battle of Hastings was fought on 14 October 1066 between the Norman-French Duke and the Anglo-Saxon King. One of the main reasons it is famous is because Kind Harold-the Anglo-Saxon king- got shot by an arrow in the eye by the enemy.

  3. In 1066 the Battle of Hastings took place. In the battle King Harold the king of England got killed by the Normans. The battle took place because when king Edward died he had no children so there was no one to be king. The battle ment Britain could have a new king.

  4. 1066 is a very famous date in history because at that time The Battle Of Hastings took place. The Normans were invading the English and unfortunately the English lost terribly as they fell for William the conquer's plan. The people who were involved were William the conquer,Harold Godwinson, the Norman Soldiers and English Soldiers.

    How it ended?

the Normans pretended to run away. So the English got fooled and ran from there protective shelter [and the top of the hill]and got beaten by the Normans. One archer shot Harold in the eye ]painful'gross and terrifying if you ask me].

  6. The reason why the battle of Hastings happened is because the original king (king Edward) died and his brother in law (king Harold) claimed the throne, but Edwards cousin (William) was furious that Harold became king because Edward said that he swore William could become king if he died. Then there is Harald the king Norway who declared that if the king of another country died he should take the role of that king.

Williams Viking army from Normandy invaded England from the north and the South. The first battle was near York in the north and the Anglos Saxons (Harold's army) won and then marched South to meet the rest of the Normans. This is when the battle of Hastings happened.

The Normans and Anglo Saxons battled each other but nobody was really winning so the Normans arranged a new tactic to beat the anglo Saxons. They pretended to walk down the hill seeming like they were giving up and then when the Anglo Saxons let their guard down the Norma's began to strike, killing Harold with an arrow through the eye and capturing or killing the rest of the Anglo Saxons. William had won the battle and became the king, known as "William the conquered".

  8. 1o66 is an incredible important date in British history because it is when the Battle of Hastings took place. This battle was due to the fact that the Normans plotted to attack the Anglo Saxon Britain. The Saxon soldiers were doing brilliantly at first but then they fell for the trick the Normans pretended to play.

What really happened was that the Normans pretended to retreat and the British chased after them, leaving there good possession. Then the Normans turned around and dominated them.

    Battle of Hastings.

Why is 1066 a very famous part of the English history?

1066 is a very famous and important date in the English history, because that is when the Battle of Hastings was prevented between England and France.

what happened in the Battle of Hastings and who did it involve?

In the Battle of Hastings William the conqueror and Harold the king of France had a gargantuan fight and argument between one and another like children would do now. Both of the kings were being childish and the were fighting over who will get the country England.

Who started the Battle of Hastings?

the battle of Hastings was started by one king and only one king at his name was WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR and he started the war between him and the king of France because they probably did not know if England was Harold's country or William the conquerors country.

How did the battle of Hastings end and what did it mean for Britain?

The Battle of Hastings ended when one of Harold's archery men shot his arrow and the arrow landed in William the conquerors eye. William the conqueror then churched into England with his men that were still alive and everyone in the villiage including him and his men that were still alive and had a gargantuan, humongous and fun party celebrating that he became king of England.
