Mathletics   -      Please let us know if your child cannot access Mathletics. Next week we will be working on fractions, decimals and percentages.

Literacy

This week we will be learning some poetry by heart in order to practise some performance poetry. Please can you write out your favourite poem along with a paragraph explaining why you like it. Remember to mention any of the poetic techniques that have been used: simile, metaphor, personification, rhyme, repetition, powerful language, etc. Can you memorise the poem and perform it for the class?

Topic (to be completed on the blog)

What can you find out about the geography of London? Can you find out its size, population, climate, lowest point, highest point, terrain, major bodies of water and important landmarks? Let us know on the blog!

Science

How do you feel when you go through a change? Can you write about a time when you experienced change. It could be a new home, new school new class, or even a change in the weather! How did you feel and what or who helped you to cope with the change?

Literacy

This week we will be starting a new topic on Poetry. To develop your descriptive language in preparation, please write a detailed paragraph to describe the setting of a forest. It can be any type of forest you like (scary, bright, exciting, haunted etc). We will be using these descriptions to compare them to another poem.

Topic (to be completed on the blog)

This week we will be visiting the remains of a Roman Amphitheatre in London. What facts do you know about amphitheatres and why they were so important to Roman life?  Share them on the blog this week.

Science
This week we will be beginning a new topic about humans and how bodies change. Please draw a timeline from your birth to Year 5. How have you changed since then?

Literacy

Write a short explanation text using the language of explanation to explain ‘Why do we float on the moon?’ or 'Why are bananas curly?' Try to use the language of explanation including: causal connectives, sentence signposts, diagrams and complex sentences in your writing.

Our topic for the last half term is the Romans. Can you research some of the achievements that the Romans made through buildings? Please post your comment on your class blog. 

Science

As part of science week, you will be presenting your science project to the class next week and displaying them to parents on Friday. Please work on finishing your science projects.

DOGS




In total there is said to be around 400 million dogs in the world. Domestic dogs are omnivores, they feed on a variety of foods including grains, vegetables and meats. The average life span for a dog is around 10 to 14 years. Dogs have formed such a strong bond as pets, workers and companions to humans that they have earned the nickname "man's best friend"

The Shaded and Smoke Division includes the shell and shaded cameos which have red tipping with a white undercoat. The cream shell and shaded cameos demonstrate a white undercoat tipped with cream. The shell and shaded tortoiseshells have a mantle of black tipping with well-defined patches of red tipped hairs while the shell and shaded blue-creams have blue tipping with well-defined patches of cream tipped hair.
