Write a BRIEF synopsis on the blog, telling the rest of the class what it was all about. Keep it short, only a few sentences. Please make sure it is your own work! Would you recommend the story?

There are some great websites, including one that enables you to listen to Greek stories. See the BBC Schools radio pages, http://www.bbc.co.uk/learning/schoolradio , Mr Donn’s website http://greece.mrdonn.org/myths.html is also very good.

Remembrance Day....

It is Remembrance Day on Wednesday, 11th November. Why is the poppy used as a symbol of Remembrance Day. What are we remembering? Why do we wear a poppy?

Have a look at the photos below. Who do you think this person could be? How old do you think he was when the photo was taken? Where do you think he went and in what year? What might have happened to him? I will tell you some stories about him on Wednesday.

Thanks to all for your interest in this post and for listening to the stories about what happened to my Grandad so intently. It was good to hear some of your stories too.  If you have any more stories, questions or thoughts then please do post them here. I'm sure you were all thinking of those who have suffered the consequences of war today, as well as being thankful for all the things we have and take for granted, that others have been denied. The two minute silence we observed today was a good opportunity to do that. Special thanks to Mr Farnell for playing The Last Post so beautifully.

Maths investigations!

We have had fun (and frustrations) solving problems and trying out investigations in Maths this week.

The children have worked collaboratively and methodically to solve them all. There is one, however, that remains unsolved! It was the source of much angst, chewed pencils and screwed up pieces of paper today! Here is.....Albert Square!

A lot of the children managed to find rows of houses that added up to 15, with a different number of people in each house, but their total number of residents didn't match 36!

How could this be approached in a different way? Who will solve the Albert Square problem......?

Good luck!

Lamborghini by Leilani and Zara

Lamborghini

Lamborghini is named after the founder of the company Ferruccio Lamborghini.

The fastest Lamborghini car in the world (Murcielago R-GT) has a top speed of of 370 km/h.

In 1963, when Lamborghini was founded, it first manufactured tractors for several years. The most expensive Lamborghini ever sold was the Lamborghini Reventon, for $1,600,000.

Many of the cars are named after Spanish legends.

The first Lamborghini was the 350GTV from 1963.

Lamborghini was once an independent company, but is now owned by Volkswagen AG together with Audi.

Most Lamborghini cars had a v12 engine except for the Gallardo, which has a v10.

The owner of Lamborghini first drove a Ferrari when he started the company, but the car had a constant nagging clutch problem which frustrated him to the extent of making him manufacture cars instead of tractors.

In 2007, Lamborghini sold over 2 580 cars which is the highest amount of cars they have ever sold in a year.
